Following rumors that their marriage was on the downslide, it has been confirmed that Katy Perry and Russell Brand are heading for a divorce.

According to TMZ, the "Arthur" actor has submitted legal papers to bring an end to his fourteen month wedlock to the "Hot N Cold" singer.

The report adds that Brand opted to cite the typical catchall of "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the parting, with the couple having tied the knot in India back on October 23, 2010.

The move comes just weeks after Russell denied any relationship woes during an appearance on "Ellen," as he said at the time, "I'm really happily married ... I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive."
