The 5 Best Celebrity Cameos in Olympic History » Gossip - David Beckham is a world famous soccer player who loves admiring half naked statues of himself and marrying former Spice Girls. But as he proved during the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, he also enjoys racing speedboats through polluted rivers while wearing way too much hair gel.

The British star's elaborate entrance was one of the most memorable highlights of the evening. That said, he's not the first celebrity to make a high profile cameo at the Olympics. From Her Majesty the Queen of England to funnyman Stephen Colbert, here's the five best star-filled moments in Olympic history.

5. Beckham Commandeers a Speedboat at the 2012 London Olympics

The British soccer star played a huge role in helping his home country win its 2012 Olympic bid. So it was fitting to watch the world famous athlete carry the torch to the opening ceremony. But no one expected him to commandeer a speedboat through the river Thames.

"To have an Olympic Games in London is amazing but to have it in an area where I grew up, I'm very proud to have been part of that for the last eight years," he told the BBC.

4. Mr. Bean Dreams Big at the 2012 London Olympics

Rowan Atkinson proved with his two Johnny English films that he doesn't always make perfect comedy. But when Mr. Bean does get things right, he does so in brilliant fashion. Which explains why his ridiculous cameo during London's opening ceremony, where he re-enacted the famous Chariot's of Fire scene via dream sequence, really set the tone for the wacky yet endearing Danny Boyle directed spectacle.

3. William Shatner Closes the 2012 Vancouver Olympics with a Sex Joke

The Winter Games in Vancouver ended on a goofy, star-filled note. While giant inflatable moose and beaver floated around the stadium, it was Shatner who stole the show with his classic monotone delivery of what surely is the only best sex joke ever told at a closing ceremony. “I’m proud to be a Canadian, a people who know how to make love in a canoe, which is why our health care system covers splinters," he deadpanned.

2. Stephen Colbert Climbs Into a Fireplace at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics

Stephen Colbert headed north for the 2010 Vancouver Games, and quickly left his comedic mark on the Games. Though huge crowds showed up to watch him tape a few episodes of the Colbert Report, the funnyman's shining moment came when he hopped into a fireplace while chatting with NBC's Bob Costas. It's safe to say the broadcaster wasn't the only person left laughing hysterically.

1. Queen Elizabeth II Flexes Her Acting Chops at the 2012 London Olympics

Despite how popular Pippa Middleton's butt has become, there's no bigger celebrity in England than Queen Elizabeth II. Yet her acting debut didn't come until she starred alongside James Bond during the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. Who cares if the 86-year-old royal didn't actually parachute into the stadium? It still made for one hell of a spectacle.

According to London Mayor Boris Johnson, Her Majesty relished the moment. "She was thrilled to have been given her first film role and she was very keen to know whether people had been amused by it," he told The Telegraph.
