Steven Tyler Disses 'American Idol' » Gossip - Steven Tyler is finally letting his true American Idol feelings out.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the scarf-wearing, expletive-dropping former judge admits the Fox reality juggernaut was "not my cup of tea." According to Tyler, he only said yes to the Idol gig in 2010 because he was fighting with his Aerosmith bandmates. “It was something to do while the storm blew by, to be honest,” he revealed to the magazine.

Tyler was criticized during his two years on Idol for not offering much in the way of harsh critiques on weaker contestants, but the singer says he wasn't interested in crushing dreams. "The show's about kids and what you do to nurture their talent. They wanted me to take the piss out of the kids and I don't have that in me. That's not what I'm about. That's more about that other guy. Not me."

The American Idol gig wasn't all bad, though. After all, Tyler did make a reported $10 million per season and he got to hang out with some very famous faces. "I loved it and hated it," he admitted. "It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life."

As a fan of Melanie Griffith, the actress, I was excited about the possibility of having her on the show, and now that I’ve had the chance to meet Melanie Griffith, the person, I can’t wait to get the chance to work with her,” Greg Garcia, creator and executive producer of Raising Hope, said in a statement. “And then Tippi Hedren agrees to play Melanie’s mother on the show? 3 was not CBS lucky number. The network has canceled the dating show after just two episodes. Based on a series from Israel, 3 followed three very different single women who were looking for true love. The series failed to grab much of an audience in its first two outings so CBS has yanked it and will air repeats of The Good Wife until the drama returns in September.
